Family Fun Nights

A unique offering, Family Fun Nights are two-hour long events hosted at the MIDB Community Center that welcome families and their children participating in a study or program. The night is meant to remind the parents of the important contribution to science they are making by participating in the study.

Volunteers from the YES! Program and the CEEd Hub set up a science fair to entertain and educate the teens. Examples of booths include:

Real brains are on display and teens get the chance to ask questions such as “what would happen if you knock out this area right here?” and “which part of the brain allows you to dream?” Our graduate and undergraduate volunteers certainly enjoy the challenge.
Activity booth for building neuron models using pipe cleaners, which the young neuroscientists can take home to show off to their friends.
Games such as corn hole and playing video games using just your brain
Stations for arts and crafts and mini science experiments (anatomy table, perception-based games.
