Process for Engagement

MIDB provides cutting-edge research support led by experts from diverse disciplines united by a shared focus on advancing brain health. Investigators gain access to advanced methodologies, state-of-the-art equipment, and specialized facilities. Support is tailored to each project’s needs across three key service areas:

  • Consultation – Expert guidance on study design, methodology, and analysis
  • Personnel training – Hands-on training for research staff in assessment administration, data collection and processing, and use of MIDB equipment
  • Direct project execution – MIDB staff provide direct support for data collection, management, processing, and analysis

Investigators* interested in engaging MIDB service hubs, utilizing MIDB lab or research space, or recruiting from the MIDB clinic are encouraged to follow our engagement process, which begins with submitting a Request for Service Form

Please note that all projects are subject to resource/personnel availability.

*Investigators from the Department of Neurology seeking support from the Analytics Hub should complete this form for unfunded projects that need data analysis for manuscripts/posters/abstracts. Data analysis for funded projects and for grant submission support requests, please use the Request for Service Form above.

Types of Requests We Support

Pre-Award Support

For help preparing a grant proposal

We assist with early-stage planning to strengthen your application. Support may include:

  • Study design and methodology consultation
  • Providing template language for grant documents
  • Power analyses and sample size justification
  • Budget justification for including hub personnel

If extensive support is needed for the proposal, we recommend completing the RFS form with more notice than the 6-8 week guidance.

Post-Award Support

For executing a funded project

Once your project is funded, we help you carry out planned activities, including:

  • Implementation of data collection and analysis
  • Ongoing methodological support
  • Coordination with hub personnel

Space & Equipment Use

For accessing MIDB research infrastructure

Request use of MIDB space or equipment, without the need for support from MIDB personnel. Ideal for study teams already equipped with the skill sets for independent data collection.

Space and equipment use requests will be processed on an expedited timeline as the engagement steps of ‘technical meeting’ and ‘statement of work’ may not be required.

Pilot Data

For generating preliminary data for future grants

Each service hub offers limited pro bono support to help collect pilot data for:

  • New grant applications
  • Feasibility testing
  • Exploratory analyses
